They’ve really cleaned up the Forum since I was there. I remember it as a shaggy, overgrown place full of scheming cats. But it was one of the rare places where I really felt the ghost of ancient Rome. Which is to say, a set of ruins that liberated my imagination. The Pantheon looks pretty tidy, too. What perfect weather for walking around! And you got to be part of a cool flash mob at the Trevi Fountain…
